Date Ideas For Busy Parents

Fitting date nights into your schedule can be increasingly more difficult as you have kids, the calendar becomes full of soccer practice to piano lessons and from work to prepping dinner, that spending one on one time with your spouse tends to fall between the cracks. Thankfully there are ways to still squeeze in some special time together!

  • Go out for dessert only: Dates don’t have to be super time-consuming, sometimes all it takes is a sweet treat and conversation with the one you love to feel connected!

  • Games at home: When you don’t have a babysitter but want some fun bonding time, playing games together is a great idea! We have loved The Ultimate Date Night Game in our home. We love to have some of our favorite candy while playing the game together!

  • Take-out & Movie: Sometimes the funnest dates are at home curled up on your couch after the kids go down to bed. Order your favorite take-out and snuggle up on the couch to watch your favorite movie while you eat!

  • Spend time outside: Once the kids are in bed, take the monitors outside to the backyard or front porch and have a picnic or swing in a porch swing and talk. Getting some fresh air and a change in scenery can be refreshing and an easy way to spend quality time together without getting a sitter.

  • Connect over coffee: Plan a special morning date at your favorite coffee place after the kids are off to school and enjoy your favorite drink and maybe split a yummy pastry. It is a great way to start off the day on the right foot!

  • Swap date night babysitting with friends: Trade childcare with another couple you trust and have a night out!

  • Have an overnight date: Sometimes an an exhausted, busy, and often overwhelmed parent all you want is nothing more than a quiet, relaxing, full night of sleep! It is not even necessary to fork out a lot of money to stay at a luxury hotel, you can simply get a well-priced Airbnb and watch TV together in peace and quiet!

  • Go to a concert: Reconnecting over a shared band or artist can be so fun and a great way to get out of the house and feel nostalgic over the music and the memories it has brought you over the years!

  • Workout together: Whether it is at the gym, outside, or at home, working out together will release endorphins and help distract you from the stresses of parenting. It can be fun, competitive, and motivating to do together!

Partners that go on date nights can feel more committed to one another since they feel like they are being prioritized! Date nights can help with communication, which is key to a healthy relationship. And on top of it all, dates are a great opportunity for parents to destress!
