Fall Activities For The Family

Fall is such a fun time of year to make memories as a family so I rounded up some of the BEST activities to do together! These shared experiences strengthen family ties and provide a much-needed break from daily stress, enriching everyone's lives with joy and connection. Creating traditions unique to our family is so special!

Pumpkin Patch: Going to the pumpkin patch as a family is the perfect autumn activity! It is a way to get hands-on with nature and allow the kids to express themselves by choosing a pumpkin that is unique to them. I also love using the pumpkin patch as a time to teach my little ones about the seasons in an organic way by pointing out the changing leaves and the changes in the weather. I recommend going on a weekday to avoid large crowds so the kids can roam the patch more freely. Bringing a wagon helps immensely, especially if larger pumpkins are being purchased.

Corn Maze: Corn Mazes provide a fun way to engage in physical activity and use problem solving skills as a family. The outdoor setting also gives everyone a dose of Vitamin D and fresh air! A corn maze also provides the opportunity for kids to practice their communication skills, such as listening to and following directions. Just be sure to all stick together as some mazes have increased difficulty versus others.

Apple Picking: Picking apples is another wonderful way to engage with nature and teach the kids. I like using this outing as an opportunity to teach about how the process of planting, growing, and then picking the apples works and how it applies to all fruits and vegetables on the earth. Going in with the intention of making some tasty fall treats can also make the process more enjoyable, whether it’s a warm cinnamon apple pie or crisp caramel apples it is the perfect motivator and a great way for the kids to reap the benefits of the labor they put into picking the apples.

Fall Festivals: Fall festivals are a fun way to dive into the new season with various nostalgic fall treats and snacks combined with several activities! Most fall festivals have things to do for all ages so it makes for a great family outing.

Fall Halloween Crafts: There are so many fun halloween crafts to do on Amazon!

Scenic walk/drive: Going on a scenic walk or drive in the fall is a great low-cost and low-stress way to experience fall and all the beauty that it brings! Going on a walk to see the leaves provides a great way to get physical activity in as a family, while a drive is a great option when the weather isn’t ideal or the distance is too great. Our family loves seeing the views together!

Leaf collecting/collaging: Leaf collecting is a fun activity that gets the kids outdoors and encourages creativity when combined with crafts like leaf rubbing and leaf collages! Leaf rubbing can help kids practice their hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and precision while also expressing themselves through the art that they create! Going out and collecting the leaves can help kids learn about colors, textures and shapes.

Doing these traditions together is so fun and has been a great way to make special memories each fall season! Fall smells, flavors, and scenery are something we always look forward to but the most important part has been the quality time we have had together while doing these activities!
